Futuristic Cars and Models

Futuristic cars and models are predicted to take the auto industry by storm. Although flying cars and cars that drive themselves are still only a reality on The Jetsons’, with today’s cutting-edge technologies, they could soon become an actuality. Although these advancements are still further away, there many other innovative and next generational technologies installed in some of the top car models today.

Keep reading to learn more about futuristic technology options and some of the leading models that are already implementing them.

Cameras Galore

Following road paths and steering clear of other automobiles is improved with newer camera systems coming to fruition. Present day cars are progressing each year with the most advanced systems, especially camera sensors. These cameras enhance driving and decrease collisions rates with their capabilities of high-functioning computer vision software. This advanced software allows cars to identify various street signs, such as speed limits, and adjust a cars’ speed accordingly.

Some brands have already started installing these cameras into their cars. In some of Ford’s European model cars, it offers a speed-limiting feature. The Kuga, Edge, S-Max, and Galaxy are some cars that offer this feature. Instead of cruise control, where a driver has to brake to reduce speed or avoid collisions, these systems allow drivers to set all of those parameters. The best part is that these systems control all of the functions for drivers. Additionally, cameras help reduce blind-spot areas, such as sharp corners, or spotting people and objects on the road.

Car camera’s unparalleled capabilities and visibilities are forever changing cars’ future.

Autonomous Driving

Experts predict that cars driving themselves could be just a few years away. Some car manufacturers are giving their customers a little preview and letting them experience a glimpse of what the future could hold.

Tesla’s autopilot feature is taking driving to a whole new level. It has auto-steering and automatic emergency braking. On certain roads, the vehicle can even recognize lane markers to take over steering cars to keep them driving in the proper lanes. Likewise, there can always be times when people or objects are not visible to drivers, but these problems should be limited with automatic emergency braking activation systems.

A majority of high-end car models such as Volvo, Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, and General Motors are offering the highest functioning cameras, a multitude of ultrasonic sensors, and radar technology. These systems are comparable to what is used on boats and airplanes, to locate the path and distance of objects.

The BMW 7 Series has implemented advanced technological systems such as a push button that assists in parking. When a driver pushes the button, it can park their car for them regardless of tight spaces or other obstacles. The driver can even stand outside of the car while it is parking.

For some Tesla owners, they can use their smartphones to summon their car to meet them. Likewise, the cars get programmed to sync with garages to enter and exit on their own.

Self-driving cars are not only offering innovative technology but can also save a lot of lives.

Windshield Displays

Accidents often occur because drivers get distracted and take their eyes off of the road. A solution to this potentially deadly problem is projector-like windshields. With a projection windshield, cars have a heads-up display that shows all images on their windshields. This display offers the information drivers’ need, such as speed limits. Having it displayed directly in front of drivers should prevent motorists from looking away from the road.

Some manufacturers have already started integrating the heads-up display in their cars. The Lincoln Navigator’s heads-up display is so clear that it is visible even when a driver wears polarized sunglasses. Windshield displays are becoming more common amongst luxury brands such as Volvo, Jaguar, Audi, BMW, and more.

Windshield projection displays can enhance driving and prevent collisions.

Hybrid Technology

In today’s eco-friendly world, the need for electric cars is rising; however, the demand for hybrid cars is still existent. Since there is more pressure on car manufacturers to produce more eco-friendly cars, in the upcoming years, an increase in hybrid vehicles is likely. Predictions are that these cars should be similar to hybrids. ey should still increase the same amount of efficiency but could be smaller in size and cost less. Some brands are currently working on these “mild hybrid” vehicles, such as the 2018 Jeep Wrangler.

Alternatively, people could also see more plug-in hybrids from various manufacturers. Toyota is working on plug-in options for their Prius Prime. These vehicles require strong batteries and can get charged from external sources. They are supposed to get enough charge and power to work strictly on electricity for a set amount of distance.

Hybrid and mild hybrid cars could not only save people money but also improve the environment.

Smartphone Technology

More smartphone features are getting integrated in vehicles. Through integrated technology with companies such as Apple and Android, center stack control systems are becoming more common. This innovative system allows drivers to do any task they do with their smartphones, such as text messages read aloud, write a message (when not driving), access certain apps, make calls with voice assistants, and much more directly on this touchscreen.

Tesla and Volvo are the first brands to offer fully digital cockpits. This innovative and fully functioning tablet-like system allows drivers to access everything from phone options to navigation features, digitally, through their car’s touch screen pad. Furthermore, its integration with technology and voice commands makes drivers more alert and less likely to look away from the road.

Smartphone technology integrated into automobiles is a huge breakthrough in the market because it prevents driver distractions by helping motorists navigate.

The future of cars and their features is forever changing to conform to a world that hopes to make accidents and air pollutants a thing of the past. With the implementation of cars’ features ranging from autonomous driving and full windshield display projections, to hybrid models, the future of cars’ technologies should continue to improve and make breakthroughs in the car industry.
