Recent Vehicle Recalls

Consumers depend on manufacturers to create quality merchandise. Cars, especially, need to adhere to this expectation. The safety of drivers and their passengers is a major concern. Vehicle manufacturers, thankfully, take this responsibility seriously. A recall alert is issued as soon as a problem is detected. Consumer data and extended testing often contribute to the finding of possible complications. If you are wondering about your new car, here are a few of the most recent recalls.

2018 Nissan Versa

Only a small number of Nissan Versa vehicles have been affected. The recall is limited to about 110 of the signature vehicle. The exact model is the 2018 Nissan Versa Note hatchback. The malfunction of the side airbag is a concern for owners of this model. A portion of the airbag inflator mechanism may dislodge if the airbag is activated. This part may release quickly and cause injury to passengers. Side airbags are often located near seats where children sit. Parents need to take heed of this complication. The side curtain airbags must be replaced as soon as possible.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica

About 154,000 2017 Chrysler Pacifica models have been recalled. The problem exists in the programing of the engine control module. The engine has a minute possibility of stalling at inopportune times. This is due to a possible misdiagnosis of the engine’s operation ability. Glitches in technology are on the rise due to higher use of computers in cars. The engine control module requires a reprogramming available at local dealerships.

Reported malfunctions have taken place while the vehicles were in use. Some occurred during idling, while other incidents took place during low speed driving. Turning and starting also seem to be trigger points of this impediment. Take care to have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible.

2017 Ram Pickup Trucks

The Ram Pickup recall affects almost two million truck owners and is focused on the heavy duty models. Accidents and injuries have already occurred, increasing the pressure on Ram to get the problem under control. The trucks can move out of gear when placed in park, causing an unexpected or unsupervised movement. The piece in question is the interlock. This controls the shifting of the transmission. Vehicles should remain in park even without the brakes engaged. This malfunction limits that security measure.

Several older models are included in the recall, as well. This particular problem is possible in a wide variety of Ram trucks.  The recall involves trucks as old as 2010 all the way up to 2017. Models include 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500. The faulty trucks all have steering column shifters.  The problem is increased during extremely hot weather.

2018 Mercedes-AMG GT

This recall affects several models and over 1,000 vehicles. Owners of 2018 coupe models AMG GT, GT C, GT R, and GT S should contact their dealer to schedule repairs. The seat belt may not tighten enough during an impact, causing a higher probability of injury. The only action necessary is proper repair of the seat belt and guidance loops. Improper seat belt function is a hazard to all drivers and passengers. Stay in touch with a qualified dealer to find out when the new parts are available.

2017 Honda CR-V

The 2017 Honda CR-V crossover has proven to have an issue connected to the fuel supply pipe. At present, about 24,000 cars are thought to be in danger of a fuel leak. The problem may have originated during the manufacturing process. This detailed construction necessary did not take place. The end of the fuel feed pipe has been fitted with the wrong part, keeping it from fastening securely to the feed pipe. The resulting fuel leak plays a part in engine stalls and is considered a fire hazard. The fuel supply pipe must be replaced at a reputable dealer.

Car recalls can cause concern for motorists, as many involve safety violations. Manufacturers make repeated efforts to make the public aware of recall alerts. Personal letters are sent to known owners of the vehicles. The best way to stay informed about your vehicle is to check recent consumer reports. Many recall repairs are simple and require minimal shop time. Take the initiative and check on the status of your car today.
